Your Name: Christina
Years/months at DCF:
(We looked it up, she officially started in January 2019 ;)
What brought you to DCF? What makes you stay?
Matthew began coming and encouraged me to try a class with him. I stay because I love knowing I’m getting stronger with every class I attend & the community of people at DCF are like family to me. #fitfam
Who is your hero, and why?
My biological mom will always be my hero. Her life was not easy & she made a lot of poor choices and paid a heavy price for them. But she owned up to her shortcomings and always pursued a better life for herself. She taught me what perseverance looks like.
Favorite kind of workout/movement? Least favorite?
My favorite workout is anything with a descending rep scheme.
My least favorite movement is pull-ups. I’m working on being able to do them unassisted, so one day they may not be my least favorite.
Short and long term goals for yourself?
The short & long term goal for me are the same: to not let the ugliness of the world keep me from loving well or making excuses not to try to be my best self.
Your best advice for getting fit and living happy?
Getting fit doesn’t happen overnight, Its important to remember that you are stronger after each workout! A life of happiness (or I like to say, joy) happens when we realize that we are unique and have something special to add to the world around us.
You were nominated by your peers for Most Improved Athlete, how do you feel about that?
I feel seen, and that’s a gift greater than anything money can buy.
Anything else you want to add?
2020 was a challenging year for the human race. I am so thankful to have a community that encourages and believes in others. DCF, the coaches and the members have inspired me not only in the gym, but in life. Thankful for my #fitfam.
