April Quarantine Challenge

For the month of April we are getting used to the ‘new normal’ and are bringing our members an at home Quarantine Challenge!

Let's make the most of this time away from each other to connect in new ways, focus on workouts, well being, and supporting our community.  You will have tasks to complete each day where you can earn points and work your way to the top of the leaderboard. Tasks will be workout, nutrition, self care and community support related. Who will come out on top of the leaderboard at the end of the quarantine?

This challenge will run from April 1st to April 30th and costs nothing to join! You must add the Wodify Rise App to your phone and use the following link to participate with everyone: destinationcrossfitquarantinechallenge2020.wodifyrise.com. The Wodify Rise App is separate from the regular Wodify App where you view and score your workouts. Coach Amy is the challenge organizer and will be the point of contact for any questions regarding the challenge.

How it works:

You will have tasks on your dashboard to complete every day and each task has a point value tied to it.  There are 10 points available per day. There are 3 bonus point days (Monday, Friday, Sunday) where extra points can be earned. The goal of the tasks is to not only keep you active but to improve overall health and wellness during a stressful time, and support our local community.

Tasks/Point Values:

Daily:

  • WOD – complete daily WOD and log score into Wodify (2 points)

  • 20 Turkish Get ups (2 points)

  • Nutrition – eat 6 cups of fruits and veggies a day to keep immune system strong (2 points)

  • Sleep – get minimum 7 hours of sleep (2 points)

  • Outdoor Time – spend at least 30 minutes outdoors (2 points)

Weekly Bonus Points:

  • Mondays – take a photo or video of you doing your Turkish get ups with an odd object and post to social media tagging @destinationcrossfitww.  (5 points)

  • Fridays & Sundays – support a local small business (5 points).  Purchase a gift card, order take out or delivery, or pay for a service in advance.  Included but not limited to, restaurants, coffee shops, breweries, wineries, acupuncture, massage, hair, CSA or farm boxes.  Feel free to get creative here, anything makes a difference!

You have 1 day to check off or adjust your daily tasks so don't forget to log into Wodify Rise daily!

COVID-19 Update

To our Destination CrossFit family,

We know you are all overwhelmed with information and uncertainty regarding the COVID-19 virus and we would like to communicate what we are doing to keep you safe while you visit our facility.  As of right now we intend on remaining open unless we are advised otherwise. Here are some of the steps we are taking and ask for your participation in:

1. If you are feeling “off”, sick, have common cold symptoms or if you have been around any one who has been sick, it is best to err of the safe side and not come to the gym.

2. Upon arrival at the gym please wash your hands. Proper hand washing is 20-30 seconds of scrubbing vigorously with soap and water. Use a paper towel to dry hands, turn off faucet, open door, turn off light, and then throw the paper towel away.

3. Consider registering, signing in and recording your workout on your phone. We will be sanitizing the main computer keyboard/mouse between classes anyways but this is a good extra step you can take to protect yourself further.

4. Before AND after using any equipment, please sanitize it using the wipes or the bleach spray located throughout the gym.  This includes but is not limited to, barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, jump ropes, rings, your pull-up station, rowers, bikes and air runners.

5. Wash your hands again before leaving the gym.

6. We will temporarily be removing chalk at this time. If you require chalk, please bring your own, keep it in a bag, and only apply it to your hands. DON’T SHARE IT. This includes chalk to write with.  You are welcome to bring in your own personal notebook and writing utensil or use poker chips. We need to use things we are able to sanitize or dispose of afterwards.

We encourage you to check the CDC website for current information regarding the virus and any updates HERE: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html

We don’t know what tomorrow or the next day will bring, and we will remain ready to pivot.  We will stay on top of the situation and operate the gym responsibly as it unfolds and keep you all in the loop.

Sincerely,

Shane, Amy and Nikki

JOIN THE #800g CHALLENGE®

WHAT IS IT?

The #800gChallenge was designed by OptimizeMe Nutrition. Eat 800 grams (g) of fruits and/or vegetables, by weight, per day.

No foods are eliminated, but only fruits and veggies count toward the 800g. Eat the fruits and veggies of your choice. Hit the macros you want. Raw, cooked, canned, frozen; doesn’t matter!  If you can weigh it as a standalone and unprocessed fruit or vegetable, you can count it. Yep, that’s it! Here’s a one-sheet with all the rules.

So why 800g? It’s associated with increased health and is a simplified way to hit those recommended servings of fruits and vegetables. Read more here.
